A highly respected transport and infrastructure consultancy is looking to strengthen its Development Planning team in Kent with the appointment of an experienced Associate Director.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded transport planning professional with a strong background in development planning to take on a key leadership role within a growing team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex planning projects, securing planning consents for major developments, and building strong relationships across both the public and private sectors.

With a healthy project pipeline and ambitious growth plans, they are seeking an individual who can contribute both technically and strategically to the continued success of the team.
Based from the Kent office, you will play an important role in managing client relationships, overseeing project delivery, mentoring junior team members, and identifying new business opportunities. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable transport solutions that support successful development outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Support the growth and development of the Development Planning business across Kent, the South East, and wider UK markets.
Lead the delivery of complex transport planning projects from inception through to planning consent.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to work-winning activities and strategic growth.
Provide technical leadership and quality assurance across a range of development planning projects.
Manage project budgets, programme delivery, and commercial performance.
Represent clients in discussions with local authorities, highway authorities, and key stakeholders.
Contribute to framework bids, tenders, and business development initiatives.
Mentor and develop junior and mid-level transport planners.
Support the wider leadership team in achieving business objectives and driving team performance.
Requirements
Significant experience within a transport planning consultancy, with a strong focus on development planning.
Demonstrable experience delivering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and planning support for major developments.
Proven ability to develop client relationships and generate new business opportunities.
Strong understanding of the UK planning system and development process.
Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and stakeholder engagement.
Commercial awareness and experience managing project finances.
Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
Previous experience mentoring and leading teams.
Chartered status or progression towards chartership would be advantageous.
