Associate Director – Town Planning (London)
Location: London (hybrid working available)

We’re working with a growing, design-led consultancy in London that is looking to appoint an Associate Director in Town Planning to play a pivotal role in both project delivery and business growth.
This is a senior position suited to a commercially minded planner who combines strong technical expertise with a proven ability to win work, build client relationships, and contribute to the strategic direction of a business.
The Role
As Associate Director, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of planning projects while actively driving new business opportunities. You’ll work closely with the leadership team to expand the consultancy’s presence across London and the wider UK.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading complex planning projects from inception through to delivery
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities across sectors (residential, mixed-use, commercial, etc.)
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
- Preparing and overseeing planning strategies, applications, and appeals
- Mentoring and managing junior team members
- Contributing to business strategy, growth plans, and market positioning
About You
You’ll be an experienced planning professional ready to step into (or already operating at) Associate Director level, with a strong network and commercial awareness.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience in town planning within a consultancy or similar environment
- Demonstrates a track record of winning work and generating fees
- Possesses excellent knowledge of the UK planning system, particularly in London
- Is confident leading client meetings and presenting to stakeholders
- Has strong leadership and team development skills
- Is MRTPI qualified (or equivalent)
