Project Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Site Manager to join a 50MW ground-mounted solar PV project in Exeter.
This is a long-term contract opportunity for an experienced construction professional to support the Site Manager with the day-to-day management and delivery of a utility-scale renewable energy project.
Role Responsibilities
As Assistant Site Manager, you will support the Site Manager in the successful delivery of the project, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with the agreed programme and project requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Site Manager with the day-to-day management of site activities.
- Coordinating subcontractors and site personnel to ensure works are progressing in line with the programme.
- Monitoring construction progress and reporting any delays, issues or potential risks.
- Assisting with the coordination of site logistics, deliveries, plant and materials.
- Ensuring construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and method statements.
- Supporting the implementation and monitoring of health and safety requirements across the site.
- Conducting regular site inspections and identifying any issues requiring attention.
- Working closely with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers and the wider project team.
- Assisting with quality control and ensuring works are completed to the required standards.
- Maintaining accurate site records, reports and documentation.
- Supporting toolbox talks, site briefings and coordination meetings.
- Assisting with the management of site permits, RAMS and other construction documentation.
- Escalating technical, safety, programme or resource issues to the Site Manager.
- Helping to ensure the project remains on schedule and within the required quality and safety standards.
Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working as an Assistant Site Manager, Assistant Construction Manager, Site Supervisor or similar within a construction environment.
- Experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience within solar PV, renewable energy or utility-scale energy projects is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of construction site management and subcontractor coordination.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety requirements.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and method statements.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
- A proactive, hands-on approach to site management.
- Relevant UK construction/site qualifications would be advantageous.
Right to Work & Location
Full right to work in the UK is mandatory.
The successful candidate must also be able to work on-site in Exeter full-time for the duration of the contract.
This is not a remote or hybrid position.
