Freelance Workday Technical Owner / Solution Lead

Project Overview
We are looking for an experienced freelance Workday Technical Owner to safeguard and further optimise the organisation’s existing Workday landscape. The focus is on maintaining a clear and sustainable architecture, improving the current setup where needed, and ensuring that Workday continues to support the business effectively.
You will act as the bridge between HR, IT and external consultants, combining strong technical expertise with functional understanding, architectural oversight and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of the Workday landscape, ensuring its stability, scalability and long-term maintainability.
Advise on Workday architecture, technical solutions and technology choices.
Support and guide the HR team in the effective use and configuration of Workday.
Translate business requirements into technical solutions and coordinate their implementation with internal teams and external consultants.
Oversee Workday integrations, reporting, dashboards and master data-related topics.
Coordinate testing, configuration improvements and self-service functionalities.
Provide technical guidance and leadership to the team of Workday consultants.
Identify opportunities to simplify the existing landscape, improve processes and maintain a consistent technical setup.
Explore emerging capabilities such as Workday AI and Workday Extend where relevant.
Required Experience
Strong hands-on experience with Workday, ideally including HCM Core and Workday architecture.
Solid technical understanding of Workday configuration, integrations, reporting and security.
Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and guide implementation teams.
Experience in stakeholder management, technical ownership and team leadership.
A combination of technical expertise and functional/business analysis capabilities.
Strong communication skills and the ability to provide independent advice.
Nice to Have
Experience with Workday AI and Workday Extend.
Experience with master data management and HR self-service solutions.
Dutch language skills; French is an additional advantage.
