About the Client
Our client is undertaking a strategic migration of its enterprise Data Warehouse from Oracle to Databricks within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. The project focuses on ensuring a seamless migration of data, code, and processes while maintaining data quality, integrity, and performance through rigorous testing and validation.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Test Engineer with strong experience in data warehouse and migration testing to support the migration of a complex Oracle Data Warehouse to Databricks. The successful candidate will be responsible for validating migration scripts, executing automated and regression testing, and ensuring that data integrity and business logic are preserved throughout the migration process.
The ideal consultant has excellent Oracle SQL skills, understands data warehouse architectures, and is experienced in comparing large datasets across source and target environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute testing activities for the Oracle to Databricks data warehouse migration.
- Set up and execute automated testing for migration scripts.
- Perform regression testing by comparing Oracle source data with Databricks target data.
- Validate data completeness, consistency, accuracy, and integrity.
- Analyse and investigate data discrepancies and support issue resolution.
- Support deployment and release validation of migrated code.
- Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and business stakeholders throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Document test results, defects, and validation reports.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong experience with Oracle Database and advanced SQL.
- Proven experience testing Data Warehouse and ETL/Data Migration projects.
- Experience working with complex data integration and orchestration environments.
- Good understanding of Data Vault and dimensional data modelling.
- Experience performing regression testing through source-to-target data comparison.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with automation and scripting (SQL, Python, Shell or similar).
- Experience with Databricks is an advantage.
- Knowledge of AI-assisted migration or testing solutions is a plus.
