Title – Tenancy Sustainment Officer

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join a leading housing provider on an interim basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in social housing who is passionate about supporting residents to maintain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.
The Role
As a Tenancy Sustainment Officer, you will work closely with residents who may be experiencing financial, personal or social challenges that could put their tenancy at risk.
You will provide proactive, customer-focused support, helping residents overcome barriers and access the appropriate services and support.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing a caseload of residents who require tenancy sustainment support.
Identifying and addressing issues that could place tenancies at risk.
Working proactively with residents to prevent tenancy failure and homelessness.
Supporting residents with rent arrears, benefit entitlement, budgeting and financial difficulties.
Making appropriate referrals to internal teams and external support agencies.
Working closely with Housing Officers, Income teams and other key stakeholders.
Developing effective support and action plans with residents.
Carrying out home visits where required.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records.
Working in line with relevant housing legislation, policies and procedures.
Promoting tenancy stability and positive outcomes for residents.
About You
We are looking for someone with previous experience within social housing, tenancy sustainment, homelessness, income recovery or a related field.
You will ideally have:
Experience managing a caseload within a housing or related environment.
A good understanding of tenancy sustainment and homelessness prevention.
Experience supporting residents experiencing complex or multiple needs.
Knowledge of welfare benefits, rent arrears and financial inclusion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with residents and partner agencies.
Strong organisational and case management skills.
The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
A proactive, empathetic and solution-focused approach.
Previous experience within a Housing Association, Local Authority or other social housing environment is highly desirable.
