About the role
Our client is looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to take ownership of planning, coordination and stakeholder communication on an expansion project in the Den Bosch area. This is a freelance engagement for an initial 6 months, with the possibility of extension, and a minimum commitment of 2 days per week.
The role is hands-on and organisational rather than technical. You will steer a small engineering team of around five people towards its milestones, while the engineers take care of the technical work. Your focus will be on turning the project plan into clear, practical actions, running the team rhythm and making sure deadlines are met.
A technical background, ideally in mechanical engineering, will help you understand the work and speak the same language as the team. Just as important is the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders, support purchasing activities linked to the project, and spot issues early so the expansion stays on schedule.
Main responsibilities
- Translate project milestones into clear, actionable task lists for the engineering team
- Set up and run regular team meetings, and follow up on actions and deadlines
- Coordinate a project team of around five people
- Report progress, risks and decisions to internal and external stakeholders
- Support and coordinate purchasing activities linked to the project
- Monitor the project schedule, flag issues early and help the team stay on track
- Keep project documentation, action logs and planning up to date
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a project manager on technical or engineering projects
- Technical background, ideally in mechanical engineering
- Confident communicator who can report clearly to stakeholders at different levels
- Structured and organised, with a track record of turning high-level plans into concrete actions
- Comfortable working independently and getting up to speed quickly
Desirable
- Experience with purchasing or procurement on technical projects
- Background in project expansions or follow-on phases of existing systems
- Experience working in an interim or freelance capacity
