Licensing Officer (Taxi Licensing)
Brief Summary
Our public sector client based in the East Midlands are searching for a Licensing Officer to join their team. They are looking for an experienced professional to come on a contract basis for a minimum of 3 months, with the possibility to extend. This is a hybrid role offering a competitive rate of £40–£45 per hour, and they are keen to get someone started as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
• Processing taxi licence applications (new, renewals, transfers)
• Managing compliance and ensuring adherence to licensing legislation and policies
• Providing expert advice on taxi licensing to applicants and stakeholders
• Using the Uniform system to manage and update licensing records accurately
• Conducting checks and validations, including documentation and DBS verification
• Supporting the wider licensing team with day-to-day operational duties
Required Experience
• Extensive experience in taxi licensing within a local authority setting
• Strong working knowledge of the Uniform system
• Proven experience handling taxi licence applications end-to-end
• Up-to-date knowledge of licensing legislation and regulatory requirements
• An up-to-date DBS check (essential)
• Ability to start at short notice / ASAP
Desirable (optional)
• Experience working in a fast-paced local authority environment
• Strong stakeholder communication skills
• Previous interim/contract experience
