About the role
Our client is looking for an experienced Site QA/QC Engineer to join its team in Klagenfurt on a contract basis. The role is responsible for making sure work on site is carried out to the required quality standards, specifications and project requirements, from material receipt through to installation, testing and handover.
You will carry out inspections, review documentation and monitor the work of site teams and subcontractors. Where work does not meet the required standard, you will raise non-conformances, agree corrective actions and follow them through to close-out. You will also keep accurate quality records and report progress to the project team.
The role suits a quality professional who is comfortable working on site and can take ownership of the QA/QC function quickly. A methodical approach, good technical judgement and the confidence to challenge work that falls short will be important, as will clear communication with site teams, engineers and the client’s representatives.
Main responsibilities
- Carry out site inspections and checks to make sure work meets drawings, specifications and applicable standards
- Prepare, review and implement inspection and test plans, checklists and quality procedures
- Inspect incoming materials and components, and review supplier and manufacturer documentation
- Monitor the quality of work carried out by site teams and subcontractors
- Witness and record tests, measurements and commissioning checks
- Raise, track and close non-conformance reports and corrective actions
- Maintain accurate quality records, including inspection reports, test results and as-built documentation
- Support quality audits and client inspections
- Prepare quality reports and handover documentation for the project team
- Promote high standards of health, safety and environmental practice on site
- Work with engineers, site managers and subcontractors to resolve quality issues promptly
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a QA/QC Engineer or Quality Inspector in an engineering, construction or industrial environment
- Working knowledge of quality management systems and inspection and test planning
- Experience of raising and managing non-conformance reports and corrective actions
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience of site-based inspection, testing and documentation
- Good attention to detail and strong report writing skills
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to work with site teams and subcontractors
- Fluent English, written and spoken
Desirable
- A relevant technical or engineering qualification, or equivalent practical experience
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality standards
- Experience of client and third-party audits
- Experience of projects in Austria or the wider DACH region
- Working knowledge of German
