Site Manager – Underground Works
Location: Antwerp, Belgium
Contract: Freelance, open-ended (minimum 5 years)
About the Role
A leading civil and underground engineering company is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead underground construction operations in Antwerp. The role involves managing multiple sites, with more projects starting over the next few months.
As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the execution of tunnelling, diaphragm walls, micro tunnelling, deep foundations, boring, and piling works, leading a team of specialists, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a site team (approx. 10-15 personnel) on underground construction operations
Plan, organise, and execute works according to project schedules
Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
Coordinate with project management, subcontractors, and engineers
Monitor progress, resolve issues on site, and report updates regularly
Ensure compliance with technical specifications and company standards
Requirements
Proven experience managing underground/civil construction works (tunnelling, diaphragm walls, boring, deep foundations, piling)
Strong team leadership and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and make decisions on site
Fluent in Dutch and/or English; French is a plus
Familiarity with civil engineering / underground works standards and regulations
