About the Client:

Our client is a leading industrial engineering company supporting customers across Germany with commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities on a variety of industrial systems and equipment. Due to increased project demand, they are looking for an experienced Service Engineer with both mechanical and electrical expertise to join the team.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a hands-on Service Engineer with a strong mechanical and electrical background to support customers across Germany. The role will involve commissioning, preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and calibration activities on industrial equipment and systems.

The successful candidate will be based out of Wetzlar, Hessen, spending approximately 80% of their time travelling to client sites across Germany, including Dresden, Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Bavaria, with 20% of their time working from the home office on production support, reporting, and technical documentation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working directly with customers, solving technical challenges, and travelling across a variety of industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out commissioning and start-up activities on industrial equipment and systems
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment including pipes, ducts, valves, pumps, and associated systems
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical faults including incorrect wiring and cabling connections
  • Use test equipment such as voltmeters and electrical measurement devices to identify faults and verify repairs
  • Investigate equipment incidents and breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Complete calibration, testing, and commissioning checklists on-site
  • Produce service reports and maintenance documentation following site visits
  • Work closely with customers to minimise downtime and ensure equipment performance
  • Support project installations, upgrades, and system handovers
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with site safety procedures and company standards

Candidate Requirements:

  • Mechanical and electrical engineering background
  • Previous experience as a Service Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or Commissioning Engineer
  • Experience commissioning and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment
  • Strong understanding of pumps, valves, ducting, piping systems, and mechanical equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, cabling, and control panels
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience using electrical testing and calibration equipment
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Germany
  • Valid driving licence
  • German and/or English language skills

Contract Details:

  • Location: Wetzlar, Hessen, Germany
  • Travel: Client sites across Germany including Dresden, Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Bavaria
  • Duration: 8-12 Months
  • Working Schedule: 40-50 hours per week
  • Travel Split: 80% on-site / 20% home office
  • Start Date: End of August 2026
  • Expenses: Fuel, flights, hotels, and travel expenses fully covered by the client
  • Rate: Dependent on experience
