Senior Planner – Town Planning
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + benefits
Working Pattern: Hybrid
The Opportunity
I’m currently working with a highly regarded multi-disciplinary property consultancy that is looking to appoint a Senior Planner to join its growing Birmingham planning team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner looking to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse portfolio of projects alongside experienced planning and property professionals.
The role will provide exposure to a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, retail, healthcare, strategic land and mixed-use development.
The Role
As a Senior Planner, you will take responsibility for delivering planning advice across a range of projects while developing strong client relationships and supporting more junior members of the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing planning applications and projects from inception through to determination.
Providing strategic and technical planning advice to clients.
Preparing planning statements, reports and supporting documentation.
Undertaking planning appraisals, policy assessments and development feasibility work.
Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, clients and stakeholders.
Attending client meetings, site visits, consultations and planning committees.
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the planning team.
Managing project deadlines, budgets and client expectations.
Contributing to business development and winning new instructions.
Keeping up to date with changes to planning policy and legislation.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
MRTPI qualification or be working towards chartership.
Strong experience within a planning consultancy, developer or related environment.
Good knowledge of the UK planning system.
Experience managing planning applications and client instructions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
The ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines.
Ambition to progress towards Associate level.
