Senior Planner – Town Planning
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + benefits
Working Pattern: Hybrid
The Opportunity
I’m currently working with a highly regarded multi-disciplinary property consultancy that is looking to appoint a Senior Planner to join its growing Birmingham planning team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner looking to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse portfolio of projects alongside experienced planning and property professionals.
The role will provide exposure to a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, retail, healthcare, strategic land and mixed-use development.
The Role
As a Senior Planner, you will take responsibility for delivering planning advice across a range of projects while developing strong client relationships and supporting more junior members of the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing planning applications and projects from inception through to determination.
- Providing strategic and technical planning advice to clients.
- Preparing planning statements, reports and supporting documentation.
- Undertaking planning appraisals, policy assessments and development feasibility work.
- Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, clients and stakeholders.
- Attending client meetings, site visits, consultations and planning committees.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the planning team.
- Managing project deadlines, budgets and client expectations.
- Contributing to business development and winning new instructions.
- Keeping up to date with changes to planning policy and legislation.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- MRTPI qualification or be working towards chartership.
- Strong experience within a planning consultancy, developer or related environment.
- Good knowledge of the UK planning system.
- Experience managing planning applications and client instructions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines.
- Ambition to progress towards Associate level.
