We’re currently supporting a leading organisation within the Belgian energy sector that is looking for an experienced Senior Python Engineer to join its IT & Development team.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong Python development skills with hands-on experience in both frontend and backend development, alongside the analytical mindset needed to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
You’ll work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to analyse existing processes, develop new functionalities, and contribute to the improvement of business-critical applications.
Previous experience within the energy or utilities sector would be a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Python Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:
Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Python-based applications and services.
Working across the full stack, contributing to both frontend interfaces and backend systems.
Analysing business requirements and translating them into clear technical specifications and development tasks.
Collaborating with business analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand functional needs.
Developing and integrating APIs to ensure seamless communication between applications and systems.
Identifying opportunities to improve existing applications, processes, and overall system performance.
Participating in technical discussions, architecture decisions, testing, and code reviews.
Taking ownership of technical deliverables throughout the development lifecycle.
Technical Skills & Experience
Essential requirements:
Strong professional experience in Python development.
Proven experience in both frontend and backend development.
Experience designing, developing, and integrating REST APIs.
Good understanding of modern web technologies, including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Experience with relational databases and SQL.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have:
Previous experience within the energy, electricity, gas, or utilities sector.
Experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation.
Experience working on business-critical applications within complex enterprise environments.
