About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and coordinate a 40–50 MW ground-mounted solar PV project near Hamburg, Germany.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience delivering PV or BESS projects in Germany, with strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
This is an initial 12-month freelance assignment, starting in November 2026, with a hybrid working model. The successful candidate will be required to work on-site during the initial onboarding phase before transitioning to predominantly remote working, with regular site visits as required by the project.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the overall project management of the 40–50 MW ground-mounted PV project.
Coordinate project activities from planning and construction through to completion.
Manage project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and resources.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, grid stakeholders, and other project partners.
Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with agreed timelines, budgets, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
Lead regular project meetings and provide clear project status updates to relevant stakeholders.
Support the resolution of technical, commercial, construction, and contractual issues.
Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
Ensure compliance with relevant German regulations, standards, and project requirements.
Represent the project owner/developer professionally throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager / Project Manager within the renewable energy sector.
Demonstrable experience working on PV or BESS projects in Germany.
Experience managing utility-scale renewable energy projects, ideally ground-mounted solar PV.
Strong understanding of project delivery, construction, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
Experience coordinating multiple contractors and project stakeholders.
Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of project deliverables.
Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken.
Willingness and ability to travel to the project site near Hamburg when required.
Availability to start in November 2026.
