Senior Town Planner
Location: Bristol
Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 per annum
Experience: 4–5 years’ planning experience
Chartership: RTPI Chartered Planner preferred
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Town Planner to join our growing planning team in Bristol.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with around 4–5 years’ experience who is ready to take the next step in their career, lead projects, and play an important role in delivering high-quality planning advice to clients.
The successful candidate will be confident managing their own workload and projects, while also working collaboratively with colleagues and coordinating the work of a wider team. Good knowledge of the Bristol planning market and local planning environment would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a range of planning projects from inception through to completion.
Provide high-quality planning advice to clients and project teams.
Prepare, coordinate and submit planning applications and supporting documentation.
Manage project programmes, deadlines and workloads effectively.
Liaise with clients, local planning authorities, consultants, stakeholders and other project professionals.
Coordinate and support the work of junior planners and wider project teams.
Take responsibility for delivering projects to a high standard, within agreed timescales and budgets.
Attend meetings, site visits, consultations and planning committees where required.
Keep up to date with changes to planning policy, legislation and best practice.
Contribute to the continued growth and development of the planning team and wider business.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has 4–5 years’ relevant town planning experience.
Is RTPI Chartered or working towards Chartership, with Chartered status preferred.
Has experience taking ownership of planning projects and managing them through to completion.
Is highly organised, able to prioritise effectively and comfortable managing a varied workload.
Has strong written and verbal communication skills.
Can confidently liaise with clients, local authorities and other professional consultants.
Has the ability to coordinate a larger multidisciplinary team and support more junior colleagues.
Demonstrates sound commercial awareness and a proactive approach to project delivery.
Has, ideally, good knowledge of Bristol and the surrounding local planning environment.
Is ambitious, collaborative and keen to progress within a growing planning team.
