Senior Town Planner

We’re working with a well-established rural planning consultancy in Wiltshire that has built an excellent reputation for delivering practical, commercially focused planning advice across the South West. Due to continued growth, they’re looking to appoint a Senior Town Planner to join their collaborative and experienced team.

The Role

You’ll manage a diverse portfolio of planning projects, providing expert advice to a wide range of clients including private landowners, rural businesses, developers, estates, and public sector organisations.

From preparing planning applications and appeals to advising on strategic land opportunities, you’ll play a key role in delivering successful outcomes while mentoring junior members of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of planning projects from inception through to determination.
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals and supporting documentation.
  • Providing clear planning advice to clients across rural, residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
  • Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Supporting business development activities and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior planners within the team.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • MRTPI qualified (or working towards Chartership with significant experience).
  • Several years’ experience within a consultancy or local authority planning environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships effectively.
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach and genuine interest in rural planning.
  • A full UK driving licence.
