About the role
Our client, a law firm, is looking for a Senior Family Solicitor to join their team in Taunton on a locum basis. The role involves managing a family law caseload and supporting the team with a steady flow of client work.
You will take conduct of matters from instruction through to conclusion, advising clients through often difficult personal circumstances. The position suits an experienced solicitor who is comfortable running their own files, handling complex or contested matters and taking on a live caseload with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will bring sound technical knowledge, good judgement and a considered, client-focused approach. This is a practical, hands-on assignment where your experience will be put to work from the outset.
Main responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, financial remedies and matters relating to children
- Advise clients on separation, finances, child arrangements and the options available to them
- Prepare and issue applications, statements, financial disclosure and other court documents
- Negotiate settlements and represent clients at hearings, mediations and other dispute resolution processes where required
- Handle private law children matters, including applications for child arrangements and related orders
- Prepare and review consent orders and other documents to give effect to agreements
- Maintain accurate file notes, deadlines and case records in line with firm procedures
- Keep clients informed and handle sensitive conversations with clarity and care
- Comply with regulatory, compliance and file management requirements
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate
- Significant experience handling family law matters at a senior level
- Sound knowledge of family law and procedure, including financial remedies and children proceedings
- Experience managing a caseload independently and working to deadlines
- Strong negotiation, drafting and client communication skills, with a considered approach to sensitive matters
- The ability to work from Taunton
