Job Title: RBI Engineer (Corrosion Specialist)
Location:  Flemish-Brabant, Belgium
Normal Working Schedule: 40 hours per week (2 days remote working, 3 days onsite in HQ per week).
Project: Multiple different Risk-Based Inspection projects relating to corrosion management for predominantly on-shore clients across Oil & Gas, chemical, processing etc.. industries.
Start Date: 01/10/2026

About the Client:
Our client is a specialist Testing, Inspection and Certification client working with some of the largest on-shore facilities for major oil & gas, chemical and processing industry clients globally.

Role Overview:
We are seeking an RBI Engineer/Specialist to join the team and work on numerous RBI projects, making corrosion loops, conducting DMR’s and building CCD, identifying threats and analyse the data before creating a report to present back to the client.

Key Responsibilities:

• For each project, you will be involved from start to finish holding contact with the client for kick-off meetings, to gather information needed to make your RBI’s, meetings to discuss the results of your findings etc.. (on teams, sometimes on client site where travel costs for the trip can be re-imbursed if not local).
• Look at the P&ID’s and make corrosion loops, identify where conditions are similar to those with corrosion.
• Per Corrosion loop, and together using the  process conditions and materials, asses for degradation.
• Conduct damage mechanism reviews (DMR) in line with API 571, and build corrosion control documents (CCD) to identify threats like internal corrosion, erosion, and stress corrosion cracking.
• Combining the probability of failure and the consequence of failure (from the client) to see and assess the risk.
• Coordinate, develop and update RBI assessments using methodologies such as API 580 and API 581 to rank risk and stablish safe inspection intervals.
• Analyse thickness monitoring data, inspection results, and historical corrosion rates to evaluate remaining equipment life.
• Formulate corrosion control schemes (CCS) and integrity operating windows (IOWs) to prevent loss of containment.
• Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for material and corrosion-related failures to prevent recurrence.
• You will be trained on this, but there is in-house software to create the RBI’s.

Candidate Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of experience with RBI Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of API 580 & API 581 for RBI, as well as API 571 for damage mechanism.
• Strong experience interpreting inspection data and in the assessment of corrosion loops.
• English speaking.

Location: Flemish Brabant, Belgium
Normal working schedule: 5 days per week (40 hours per week).
Remote Working: Up to 2 days of remote working per week.
Duration: 6 months+ freelance contract
