QHSE Engineer & Coordinator

Job Title: QHSE Engineer/Coordinator (off-shore vessels, onshore position).
Location: West Flanders, Belgium
Normal Working Schedule: 40 hours per week, 5 days per week.
Project: Long-term contract to work as a QHSE Engineer/Coordinator 30-40% on head office QHSE and performing inspections to ensure compliancy of HQ building, logistics hub and operational hub, as well as end-to-end QHSE project coordinator for ocean surveying projects (mainly vessels, some small drone surveying projects too).
Start Date: 01/10/2026
Contract Type: Freelance Contract, 12 months contract (extendable)

About the Client:
Our client is operates in off-shore surveying and takes on projects for mainly surveying projects on vessels (ships) but a small part of aerial drone surveying projects too.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a QHSE Engineer/Coordinator with experience working on off-shore QHSE projects to do 2x functions, 30/40% working on audit preparations internally and internal QHSE processes for the HQ building, logistics hub and operational hub ensuring full compliance with Belgian laws and legislation, with 60/70% of the work being the end-to-end project QHSE coordinator for off-shore surveying projects – the position is done from HQ in West Flanders, but should there be space on a vessel and you wish to go aboard then you can choose to and your expenses will be paid.   

 
Key Responsibilities:

  • For the 3x sites (Office building, logistics hub and operational hub) ensure all QHSE is in place in accordance with Belgian law/legislation, preparing for audits and performing inspections using an in-place inspection checklist, reporting back and implementing corrective procedures/actions do ensure compliance.
  • Standards include ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO27001, ISO45001.
  • Perform end-to-end project QHSE coordination from project tendor to completion.
  • Perform risk analyses for projects, full project preparation, make a QHSE project plan and create QHSE documents for your projects.
  • Ensure equipment verification and all is up to standards, hold daily client meetings, doing the QHSE for the whole surveying projects (mainly vessels, small part aerial drones).
  • Ensure the whole vessel, all devices and equipment used onboard is in-line with standards and specification.
  • Ensure all members on-board are aware of processes and how to act onboard to be inline with QHSE (2x crews onboard, 1 is maritime crew operating the vessel, and the other is the survey crew performing their surveys).
  • Perform incident management, reporting back, implementing CAPA and ensuring everyone onboard is aware of processes whilst onboard.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in a QHSE function on an off-shore position (can be oil & gas, renewable, vessels, surveying etc..)
  • Strong knowledge of off-shore QHSE processes, documentation etc.. and what’s needed whilst off-shore.
  • English speaking.

Contract Details
Location: West Flanders, Belgium
Normal working schedule: 40 hours per week.
Duration: 12 months +
Rate type: All-inclusive Hourly/Daily Rate.
