About the role

Our client is looking for a QA Supervisor to join the delivery team on major civil works for the Antwerp ring road and tunnel. The project is one of the most significant infrastructure schemes in Belgium, and quality assurance plays a central part in making sure the works are built to specification, on programme and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will supervise quality on site across the civil works packages, which may include earthworks, structures, concrete works and tunnel construction. The role involves working closely with site engineers, construction managers, subcontractors and the client’s representatives, so that inspections, testing and documentation are planned and completed correctly at every stage of construction.

This contract role suits a QA professional with a solid background in civil engineering and infrastructure who is comfortable working on large, complex sites. You will be hands-on in the field as well as responsible for records and reporting, helping the project reach the standard needed for handover. Start date and contract duration are to be confirmed with candidates.

Main responsibilities

• Supervise quality assurance and quality control activities across the ring road and tunnel civil works
• Implement and maintain the project quality plan, procedures and inspection and test plans (ITPs)
• Carry out and coordinate site inspections, hold points and witness points with engineers, subcontractors and client representatives
• Monitor materials testing and verification, including concrete, reinforcement, backfill and other civil materials
• Raise, track and close out non-conformance reports (NCRs), and follow up on corrective and preventive actions
• Review subcontractor quality documentation, method statements and material submittals
• Keep accurate quality records, checklists and as-built documentation for project handover
• Support internal and external quality audits and help teams prepare for them
• Report quality performance, trends and issues to project management
• Promote a right-first-time approach to quality across site teams

Requirements

Essential

• Proven experience in a QA/QC supervisor or similar quality role on civil engineering or infrastructure projects
• Experience on major road, tunnel, bridge or other heavy civil works
• Good working knowledge of ITPs, NCR processes, inspection regimes and quality documentation
• Understanding of quality management systems such as ISO 9001
• Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical standards
• Clear communicator who can work with site teams, subcontractors and client representatives

Desirable

• Relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction or quality management
• Experience with tunnelling works or large concrete structures
• Knowledge of European and Belgian construction standards
• Experience with digital quality management or document control systems
