Property Lawyer

Vivid Resourcing

Location: Kirkby Stephen
Contract: Locum

About the role

Our client is looking for a Property Lawyer to join the team on a locum basis, handling a varied property caseload and helping to maintain a high standard of service to clients during the contract.

The successful candidate will manage matters from instruction through to completion, working with minimal supervision and keeping clients informed at each stage. The work is expected to include residential and commercial property transactions, with scope to cover other property matters depending on the candidate’s experience and the needs of the practice.

This is a position for a property lawyer who is comfortable running their own files, working directly with clients and fitting quickly into an established team. The setting offers a broad and practical mix of work, with the chance to deal with the types of rural and local property matters that come with a practice in this part of Cumbria.

Main responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of property matters from instruction to completion
  • Handle residential sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity
  • Act on commercial property matters, including sales, purchases and leases, where experience allows
  • Carry out due diligence, title review, searches and enquiries, and report clearly to clients
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, transfers, leases and related documentation
  • Deal with lenders, estate agents, other solicitors and third parties
  • Complete registration with HM Land Registry and manage SDLT or LTT-related requirements as applicable
  • Maintain accurate file records and comply with anti-money laundering and regulatory procedures
  • Keep clients updated and provide clear, practical advice throughout each matter
  • Work with colleagues across the practice to ensure continuity of service
Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified solicitor, or Chartered Legal Executive, with a current right to practise in England and Wales
  • Proven experience handling property transactions
  • Strong working knowledge of conveyancing practice and procedure
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and work to deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound understanding of AML and professional conduct requirements

Desirable

  • Experience in commercial property, agricultural or rural property matters
  • Experience working in a regional or private client-focused practice
  • Familiarity with case management and conveyancing software
  • Experience with leasehold, new build or registered and unregistered land matters
The offer

This is a locum role based in Kirkby Stephen. Rate, contract duration, start date and working pattern are to be confirmed with candidates. Further detail on the practice, caseload and expectations of the role will be shared with shortlisted applicants.

If you are an experienced property lawyer looking for a locum role within a regional practice in Cumbria, this position offers varied work and the chance to make an immediate contribution. Apply below.
