Project Support Engineer / Technical CAD Engineer – Maritime
About the role
Our client operates within the maritime industry, delivering navigation and communication systems for complex marine applications, including passenger vessels. They are looking for a technically minded Project Support Engineer / Technical CAD Engineer to support the preparation and execution of maritime installation projects.
This is a varied technical role combining CAD work with engineering, project support, documentation and logistics. You will help ensure projects are properly prepared before installation, making sure technicians have the correct drawings, documentation, equipment and materials required to complete their work efficiently.
The role will involve working across multiple projects and collaborating closely with technicians, engineers and other project stakeholders. International project exposure is also part of the position, including work connected with projects in Germany.
Main responsibilities
- Create, modify and update technical drawings using AutoCAD.
- Produce and maintain block diagrams for navigation and communication systems.
- Prepare and maintain cable lists, identifying the cables required for individual devices and sensors.
- Update as-built drawings to accurately reflect changes made during installation.
- Provide engineering and project support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project documentation within the DMS, including certificates, manuals and other technical documentation.
- Identify required equipment, components and materials to support project procurement and logistics.
- Coordinate technical information and deliveries to ensure technicians have the necessary documentation and equipment ahead of installation.
- Support the preparation and planning of multiple projects simultaneously.
- Help improve project structure, preparation and organisation.
- Work closely with technicians and engineers to resolve technical and documentation requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience using AutoCAD.
- A technical background in engineering, CAD, technical project support or a related discipline.
- Experience creating or modifying technical drawings and block diagrams.
- Experience preparing and maintaining cable lists.
- Comfortable working with technical documentation, certificates and equipment information.
- Strong organisational skills and a structured approach to managing multiple projects.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technicians, engineers and project stakeholders.
- An affinity with logistics, procurement and installation preparation.
- Maritime industry experience is advantageous.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
