About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support a growing portfolio of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the UK.
The successful candidate will have a strong electrical engineering background and extensive experience working on UK renewable energy projects. Rather than being assigned to a single project, you will provide engineering support across multiple projects within the portfolio, working closely with project management, design, construction and commercial teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer who has a strong understanding of UK Solar PV and BESS projects and is comfortable managing multiple technical workstreams simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support across a portfolio of UK Solar PV and BESS projects.
- Support projects through development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover stages.
- Review and coordinate electrical designs, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Provide technical input and engineering oversight across PV and BESS projects.
- Review contractor, EPC and subcontractor technical submissions.
- Identify, investigate and resolve technical issues across multiple projects.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure engineering solutions comply with relevant UK standards, regulations and grid requirements.
- Support design reviews, technical meetings and engineering workshops.
- Assist project teams with technical queries and engineering decisions.
- Monitor engineering deliverables and ensure projects remain aligned with technical requirements.
- Support commissioning, testing and handover activities where required.
- Provide technical support to project managers and wider delivery teams across the portfolio.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines across different projects.
Requirements
- Strong electrical engineering background.
- Proven experience working across Solar PV and BESS projects.
- Extensive experience delivering UK renewable energy projects.
- Strong understanding of UK electrical standards, regulations and grid requirements.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, developers, consultants or major project stakeholders.
- Ability to review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience working across multiple projects or portfolios would be highly advantageous.
- Strong technical problem-solving and project coordination skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- UK citizen with extensive experience working on UK projects.
- Comfortable working independently in a freelance/self-employed capacity.
- Available to start ASAP.
Working Arrangement
The role will be delivered on a hybrid basis, with the successful candidate working remotely while attending the London office as required.
You will be supporting a portfolio of UK Solar PV and BESS projects, meaning the role will involve working across multiple projects and project teams rather than being tied to one individual site.
