About the role
Our client is a manufacturer with a production site in Kaunas, Lithuania, looking to appoint a Project Construction Manager to lead fire systems projects on a contract basis. The role is responsible for the safe, on-time delivery of fire protection works within an operational production environment.
The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from planning through to handover, covering the installation, upgrade or replacement of fire detection, alarm and suppression systems. You will coordinate contractors and specialist suppliers, manage programme, budget and quality, and make sure the works comply with the relevant fire safety standards, site rules and health and safety requirements.
Because the site is live, careful planning is essential. You will work closely with site engineering, operations, EHS and facilities teams to minimise disruption to production while keeping projects moving. Rate, start date, contract duration and working arrangements will be confirmed with candidates.
Main responsibilities
- Lead fire systems construction and installation projects from scope definition through to commissioning and handover
- Manage project programmes, budgets, risks and change control
- Coordinate and supervise contractors, subcontractors and specialist fire protection suppliers on site
- Review designs, specifications and technical documentation to ensure compliance with applicable fire safety codes and standards
- Plan works around live production areas, agreeing shutdowns and access arrangements with site teams
- Enforce health and safety, permit-to-work and site safety requirements throughout the project
- Oversee testing, commissioning and acceptance of fire detection, alarm and suppression systems
- Manage project documentation, including as-built drawings, test certificates and handover files
- Report progress, costs and risks to site management and internal stakeholders
- Work with local authorities, inspectors and approval bodies where required
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience managing construction or installation projects, with a focus on fire protection systems
- Sound knowledge of fire detection, fire alarm and fire suppression systems, including sprinklers
- Understanding of relevant fire safety regulations and standards applicable in Lithuania and the EU
- Experience managing contractors and delivering projects to budget and programme
- Strong health and safety awareness, with experience of working in an operational industrial site
- Ability to read and review technical drawings and specifications
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
Desirable
- Experience of projects in a food, FMCG or manufacturing production environment
- Experience of project management methods or a relevant qualification
- Familiarity with international insurer or corporate fire protection standards
- Experience managing shutdown or phased works on a live site
