Private Sector Housing Officer (Interim)

Location: Surrey
Contract: Rolling 3‑month contract
Hours: 20 hours per week
Rate: Competitive (DOE)
Start: ASAP

We are currently seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to support a local authority in Surrey on an interim basis.

This is a part‑time role (20 hours per week) on a rolling 3‑month contract, ideal for an officer with strong enforcement experience who can hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out proactive and reactive property inspections
  • Undertaking enforcement action in line with relevant housing legislation
  • Managing and advising on HMO licensing, including compliance and standards
  • Working closely with landlords, agents, and tenants to drive improvement in housing conditions
  • Preparing notices and supporting legal processes where required

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience within Private Sector Housing
  • Strong background in enforcement work
  • Sound working knowledge of HMO licensing and associated legislation
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload

Desirable:

  • Experience or knowledge of caravan/mobile home licensing
