About the role
Our client, a law firm, is looking for a Private Client Solicitor to join their team in Stockport on a locum basis. The role involves managing a private client caseload and supporting the team with a steady flow of client work.
You will handle matters from instruction through to completion, advising clients on wills, estates and related planning. The position suits a solicitor who is comfortable running their own files and who can take on a live caseload with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will bring sound technical knowledge, good judgement and a client-focused approach. This is a practical, hands-on assignment where your experience will be put to work from the outset.
Main responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of private client matters, including wills, probate and estate administration
- Advise clients on succession planning, trusts and powers of attorney
- Prepare wills, lasting powers of attorney and related documents
- Handle the administration of estates, including grants of probate and letters of administration
- Prepare estate accounts and deal with beneficiaries, executors and third parties
- Maintain accurate file notes, deadlines and case records in line with firm procedures
- Keep clients informed and handle sensitive conversations with clarity and care
- Comply with regulatory, compliance and file management requirements
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate
- Relevant experience handling private client work
- Sound knowledge of wills, probate, estate administration and powers of attorney
- Experience managing a caseload independently and working to deadlines
- Strong drafting and client communication skills, with a considered approach to sensitive matters
- The ability to work from Stockport
