Senior / Principal Town Planner

Location: Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire (Hybrid Working Available)

The Opportunity

An established and highly regarded independent planning consultancy is seeking a talented Senior or Principal Town Planner to join its growing team based in Beaconsfield.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planner looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative and commercially focused environment. The successful candidate will work on a diverse portfolio of projects across residential, commercial, mixed-use, rural, and strategic land sectors, providing planning advice to a wide range of private and public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of planning projects from inception through to determination.
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals, and supporting documentation.
  • Providing strategic planning advice to clients, landowners, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Conducting site appraisals and planning due diligence assessments.
  • Preparing planning statements and representations to local plans and consultations.
  • Managing client relationships and contributing to business development activities.
  • Liaising with local authorities, consultees, and other professional teams.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree (and preferably a postgraduate qualification) in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Chartered membership of the RTPI (or working towards chartership).
  • Significant experience within either a planning consultancy, local authority, or development environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy framework.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and strong project management skills.
