POWER ELECTRONICS ENGINEER – BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) – PERMANENT POSITION
Â
About the Role
Â
As a Power Electronics Engineer (Hardware Focus), you will play a key role in the end-to-end development of advanced power conversion systems from concept and simulation through to prototyping, validation, and production release.
Â
You’ll be responsible for designing robust, efficient, and manufacturable power circuits that form the backbone of our next-generation products.
Â
Your primary focus will be on hardware design and optimization, working with a variety of converter topologies such as DC/DC converters, AC/DC rectifiers, DC/AC inverters, and motor drives, depending on project requirements.
Â
You’ll apply deep circuit-level expertise to ensure designs meet demanding performance targets in efficiency, thermal management, EMI/EMC compliance, and reliability.
Â
In this hands-on engineering role, you’ll move fluidly between simulation, schematic capture, PCB design, and lab validation, working closely with firmware, mechanical, and test engineering teams to bring complex systems to life.
Â
You’ll also contribute to component selection and qualification, and take ownership of design verification and troubleshooting, building and testing prototypes to characterize real-world performance, identify failure modes, and drive continuous improvement.
Â
Â
Key Responsibilities
Â
- Design and develop power electronic circuits such as DC/DC converters, inverters, PFC stages, motor drives, and battery management systems.
- Select and evaluate components (MOSFETs, IGBTs, magnetic components, capacitors, etc.) to meet performance and cost targets.
- Create schematics, PCB layouts, and documentation using CAD tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, KiCad).
- Simulate circuits using SPICE or similar tools for performance validation and stability analysis.
- Develop and execute test plans to verify functionality, efficiency, thermal performance, and EMI/EMC compliance.
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Prototype and troubleshoot hardware, including hands-on lab work with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and electronic loads.
- Support design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-reliability (DFR) reviews.
- Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in power electronics and circuit design.
Â
Qualifications
Â
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–8 years of experience in power electronics hardware design and testing.
- Strong understanding of analog circuit design, switching power topologies, and control principles.
- Hands-on experience with PCB design, power simulation, and hardware debugging tools.
- Familiarity with thermal management, EMI/EMC design considerations, and safety standards (UL, IEC, ISO).
Â
The Offer:
Â
- A permanent, full-time employment contract
- A salary & benefits package commensurate with experience
