FULLY REMOTE (with occasional attendance at key meetings as required)
£35–£45 per hour (umbrella, DOE)

Vivid Resourcing are currently working with a Scottish Local Authority who are looking to appoint an interim Planning Officer to support their Development Management and wider planning service.

The role will focus on the assessment and determination of planning applications, including householder, local, and minor developments, ensuring compliance with the Development Plan and relevant Scottish planning policy. You will also contribute to pre-application discussions, provide professional advice to applicants and stakeholders, and support the delivery of high-quality planning decisions within statutory timeframes.

You will be responsible for preparing delegated reports, managing a caseload of applications, and liaising with internal consultees, external agencies, and members of the public. There may also be opportunities to assist with enforcement matters and contribute to policy-related work where required.

The successful candidate will have prior experience working within a Scottish planning authority or consultancy, with a strong understanding of the Scottish planning system, including the Development Plan framework and relevant legislation. Experience handling a varied caseload and engaging with stakeholders is essential.

Applicants should be comfortable working independently in a predominantly remote environment, while contributing effectively to a collaborative planning team.
