About the role
Our client is looking for a Planner to join the operations team on a contract basis, helping to keep production, materials and delivery schedules aligned with customer demand and available capacity.
The successful candidate will coordinate planning activity across production, procurement, logistics and sales, translating demand forecasts and customer orders into workable plans. The role covers scheduling, material availability, stock levels and delivery performance, with regular reporting to operations management.
This is a position for a planner who is comfortable working with production and supply chain colleagues and who can keep a clear view of priorities when plans change. It offers exposure to a technical manufacturing environment and the chance to make a direct contribution to the reliability and efficiency of day-to-day operations.
Main responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production and supply plans based on customer orders, forecasts and available capacity
- Schedule production runs and coordinate with production teams to meet agreed delivery dates
- Monitor raw material and finished goods availability and work with procurement to avoid shortages
- Manage stock levels and support inventory accuracy and control
- Liaise with sales, logistics and quality teams to align delivery commitments and resolve issues
- Identify planning risks, bottlenecks and capacity constraints, and propose solutions
- Update and maintain planning data and parameters within the ERP system
- Prepare regular reports and key performance indicators on plan adherence, stock and delivery performance
- Support continuous improvement of planning processes and tools
- Contribute to production planning meetings and communicate changes to the wider team
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in a production planning, supply chain planning or similar role, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of production scheduling, material requirements planning and inventory management
- Experience using an ERP system for planning
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
Desirable
- Experience in chemicals, materials, process or industrial manufacturing
- Experience with SAP planning modules
- A qualification in supply chain, logistics, engineering or business administration
- German language skills
- Experience in continuous improvement or lean methods
