Town Planner
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid Working Available)
About the Opportunity
An established and growing planning consultancy is looking to appoint a Town Planner to join its Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a collaborative team delivering planning advice across a diverse range of residential, commercial, mixed-use, energy and strategic land projects throughout the UK.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced planners and directors, taking responsibility for planning applications, site appraisals, planning appeals and client advice while developing their own career within a supportive and ambitious environment.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and submitting planning applications.
- Undertaking planning research, policy analysis and site appraisals.
- Producing planning statements and supporting reports.
- Liaising with local authorities, clients and external consultants.
- Assisting with planning appeals and representations.
- Managing projects and client relationships, appropriate to experience.
- Keeping up to date with planning legislation and policy changes.
About You
Applicants should have:
- A degree (and ideally a postgraduate qualification) in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- MRTPI status or be working towards chartership.
- Experience within a planning consultancy or local authority.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.
