I’m working with a leading UK housebuilder on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Planner to join their planning team in Telford.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a planning professional looking to progress their career with a well-established housebuilder, working across a strong portfolio of residential and strategic development sites.

The Opportunity

As a Planner, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of residential development across the region. You’ll work closely with the Land and Development teams, external consultants, Local Planning Authorities, stakeholders and local communities.

The role will provide exposure to a wide range of planning matters, from initial site appraisals and planning strategy through to the submission and delivery of planning applications.

The role will include:

• Undertaking site assessments, planning history reviews, policy analysis and development appraisals.
• Managing and coordinating planning applications, including Outline, Full, Reserved Matters and discharge of conditions.
• Preparing and reviewing Planning Statements, Design & Access Statements and other supporting documentation.
• Liaising with internal teams, external consultants and Local Planning Authority officers.
• Developing planning strategies for immediate, medium and long-term residential development sites.
• Supporting the identification and promotion of strategic land opportunities through the plan-making process.
• Monitoring development plan progress and relevant planning policy.
• Attending stakeholder and public consultation events.
• Providing planning advice to the wider business and supporting the Land and Development teams.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with Local Planning Authorities, consultants and other stakeholders.

What they’re looking for

• Previous experience working within private sector planning, ideally with residential development experience.
• Experience in development management and/or planning policy.
• A degree or Masters in Planning, preferably RTPI accredited.
• Good knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to understand the wider development process.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• A proactive and collaborative approach.
• Full UK driving licence.
