About the Client:
Our client is a major industrial manufacturing organisation operating within the chemical and petrochemical sector. They are seeking an experienced IT Network & Telecom Engineer to provide maternity cover for a key member of their infrastructure team, ensuring the continued operation and reliability of critical site-wide IT and communication systems.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on IT Network & Telecom Engineer to join a large industrial production site in the Antwerp region.
The role is primarily focused on network infrastructure, including switching, fibre connectivity, and network operations, whilst also supporting telecom and security-related systems such as telephony, CCTV, radio communications, and access control.
The successful candidate will benefit from a one-month handover period with the current engineer before taking ownership of the environment during the maternity leave cover. This position is primarily on-site, with limited remote working flexibility available.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support and coordinate the site’s network infrastructure and connectivity services.
• Manage and monitor network switching environments.
• Work with fibre optic infrastructure and cabling networks.
• Troubleshoot and coordinate resolution of network-related incidents.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and service providers.
• Work alongside firewall specialists and security teams, maintaining a general understanding of firewall environments.
• Support and coordinate telecommunications infrastructure across the site.
• Oversee IP and analogue telephony systems.
• Coordinate radio communication systems where required.
• Manage site-wide CCTV and camera infrastructure from an operational perspective.
• Support physical access control and other security-related technologies.
• Participate in infrastructure-related project work and continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar position.
• Strong understanding of network switching technologies.
• Experience working with fibre optic infrastructure is highly desirable.
• General knowledge of firewall technologies and network security principles.
• Exposure to telecommunications environments, including telephony and communication systems.
• Experience supporting CCTV, access control, or related security technologies is beneficial.
• Comfortable working within an industrial, manufacturing, or production environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• English language proficiency is mandatory.

Location: Antwerp Area, Belgium (On-site with 1-2 days remote working possible)
Duration: 6 Months+ (Maternity Cover)
Rate: Competitive Daily Rate (DOE)
