About the role
Our client is an organisation with a site in Leuven, Belgium, looking to appoint a permanent Maintenance Supervisor to lead the upkeep of its technical equipment, facilities and infrastructure. The role suits a hands-on maintenance professional who is ready to take responsibility for a team and for keeping the site running safely and reliably.
The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day maintenance activity, covering both planned preventive work and reactive repairs. You will allocate tasks, supervise technicians and contractors, and make sure work is carried out to the required technical, quality and safety standards. You will also monitor equipment performance, follow up on recurring faults and help reduce downtime through well-planned maintenance.
You will work closely with operations, engineering and EHS colleagues, and you will be a visible point of contact on site for technical issues. The role offers the chance to shape how maintenance is organised and improved over time, including maintenance schedules, spare parts, documentation and supplier relationships. Main responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance team, including planning workload, assigning tasks and supporting day-to-day performance
- Plan and oversee preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance across equipment, utilities and building services
- Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnose faults and put in place effective repairs
- Manage external contractors and service providers, including scope, quality and safety on site
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders and equipment documentation, using a CMMS or equivalent system where available
- Monitor equipment condition, track recurring issues and recommend improvements to reduce downtime
- Manage spare parts and consumables, and support purchasing and stock control
- Enforce health, safety and environmental requirements, including permits to work and lockout procedures
- Support compliance with relevant Belgian and EU regulations and internal site standards
- Contribute to maintenance budgets, reporting and continuous improvement activities
- Coach and develop technicians, and help maintain a safe and well-organised working environment
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience in a maintenance role, with experience supervising or leading technicians
- Sound technical knowledge of industrial or technical equipment and building services, such as electrical, mechanical and utilities systems
- Experience planning and managing preventive and corrective maintenance
- Strong health and safety awareness and experience of applying safe working procedures
- Ability to diagnose faults and solve problems quickly and methodically
- Experience working with contractors and suppliers
- Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical colleagues
- Right to work in Belgium
Desirable
- A technical qualification in electromechanics, electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related field
- Experience using a CMMS or maintenance management software
- Experience in a production, technical or industrial environment
- Knowledge of Belgian and EU safety and technical regulations
- Experience of continuous improvement methods
