Job Title: Machine Operator
Location:  North Brabant, Netherlands.
Normal Working Schedule: 40 hours per week, 5 days per week (Monday to Friday).
Project: My client are looking for multiple machine operators to join one of 3 departments and 1 of 2 production facilities (both in North Brabant) in a physically demanding position as a Machine Operator, Operating machines from start to finish, including physically moving heavy bags of raw materials, helping resolve issues with the machines, performing QC checks before batch release etc.. and for one of the positions, you would also lead a team of operators (whilst being a machine operator yourself).
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: 24 month + Freelance Contract.

About the Client:
Our client is a multinational chemical production company which produces adhesive technologies used across a wide range of sectors.

Role Overview:
We are seeking multiple machine operators to join one of 3 departments (mixing, filling, packaging) and one of 2 production facilities (both in North Brabant) in a physically demanding position as a Machine Operator, Operating machines from start to finish, including physically moving heavy bags of raw materials, helping resolve issues with the machines, performing QC checks before batch release etc.. and for one of the positions, you would also lead a team of operators (whilst being a machine operator yourself).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the machines during production from start to finish, including physically moving heavy bags of raw materials and fixing basic issues on the machines (mainly mechanical related problems) or resolving issues by coordinating with the relevant technicians/engineering teams.
  • Support people during production and help them with any issues they’re facing with the machines, helping to find solutions and being a problem solver who takes initiative.
  • If a machine stops, find out what stopped it and either fix the machines yourself or contact the relevant team who needs to fix it (depending on the issue).
  • For example, if the problem is electrical related, then contact the dedicated electrical team and help them to resolve the issue. If the problem is related to a component issue, then pass this on to the relevant technician etc.. any problem which requires a new part/change to the machine, or anything engineering related then pass this onto the correct team and work with them to resolve.
  • If you are passing the problem to another team (as mentioned above) then try to troubleshoot the issue before the technicians arrive for a quicker resolution, take initiative to minimise downtime.
  • Fix small issues yourself, for example if the cartridge is jammed in a machine.
  • If you are able to resolve bigger issues yourself (that a technician would normally solve) then you can resolve these issues yourself too.
  • Other day-to-day tasks include basic quality control checks – the QC team will give you a checklist which will vary based on which department you’re performing your work for.
  • For example, every batch you make you’ll take a sample, prepare the label and send it to the QC team – you will also measure size and height of cartridges, smear products out to visually check they’re mixed properly etc.. and then send samples off to the QC team of lab technicians who will do the testing, once they sign off then you can release your batch.
  • Perform administration tasks such as recording stock levels in their SAP system, inputting cycle time registrations, incident registration etc..
  • If possible (and wanted by you) one of the openings is also related to being a hands-on team leader (coordinating the team of operators and also being an operator yourself).
  • There are 2x shifts which rotate weekly (morning shift is 06:00-14:30 ; late shift is 14:30-23:00) with one week on the morning shift and the following week on late shift. The position is Monday to Friday with very rare weekend overtime if needed and agreed (this is not on-call, but planned overtime when necessary).
  • This position is a physically demanding job, repeatedly lifting heavy bags of raw materials throughout your shift and being physically hands-on with the machines and in production.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience as a Machine Operator or Technician in a production facility.
  • Fluent English.
