Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Month-End Close:
- Manage and execute the timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare comprehensive management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Perform detailed variance analysis against budget and prior periods, providing clear explanations for deviations.
- General Ledger Management:
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate postings and reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
- Oversee intercompany reconciliations and eliminations where applicable.
- Process Improvement & Controls:
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial processes, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies, assisting in the development of new controls as needed.
- Business Partnering & Support:
- Support the Financial Controller and Finance Director with ad-hoc financial analysis and projects.
- Collaborate with operational teams to understand financial performance drivers and provide financial insights.
- Assist in the preparation of financial information for Private Equity reporting and board packs.
- Audit & Compliance:
- Support the year-end audit process, preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor queries.
- Assist with tax compliance requirements (e.g., VAT, corporate tax calculations).
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other members of the finance team, potentially supervising or mentoring junior colleagues.
Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified/Part-Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification (or actively pursuing) is essential.
- Relevant Experience: Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, or Senior Accountant role, ideally within a commercial business.
- Private Equity Exposure: Prior experience working within a Private Equity-backed business or a fast-paced, high-growth environment is highly desirable. Understanding of the demands and reporting cycles in such environments is a plus.
- Technical Accounting Skills: Solid understanding of financial accounting principles (IFRS/UK GAAP) and experience with month-end close processes.
- Advanced Excel Skills: Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, financial modelling, and reporting.
