Information Governance Officer

Vivid Resourcing

Location: Greater Manchester, United Kingdom
Contract: Interim
Start date: 2 November 2026
Duration: 2 months
Working pattern: Hybrid, with a preference for two days a week in the office

About the role

Our client, a combined authority in Greater Manchester, is looking for an Information Governance Officer to join its team on a two-month interim contract. The assignment starts on 2 November 2026 and will suit someone who can settle in quickly and take ownership of requests from day one.

The role centres on the day-to-day handling of information requests. The successful candidate will log and process Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Subject Access requests, keeping each case moving within statutory deadlines. The work will include supporting a regional fire and rescue service and a regional transport body, so the caseload is varied and the subject matter wide-ranging.

Experience of working in iCasework is essential, as it is the system used to manage the caseload. The Head of Service will be interviewing candidates directly, with interviews taking place next week, so this is a role for someone who can speak confidently about their hands-on experience.

Main responsibilities

  • Log, triage and process FOI, EIR and DSAR requests using iCasework
  • Track each request against statutory deadlines and escalate risks to timescales early
  • Liaise with colleagues across the organisation and its partner bodies to locate and gather relevant information
  • Review records and apply exemptions, exceptions and redactions accurately, in line with the relevant legislation
  • Prepare clear, well-reasoned responses and, where needed, refusal notices
  • Keep case records complete and up to date, so that decisions can be evidenced and audited
  • Respond to queries from requesters and internal stakeholders in a professional, timely way
  • Support the wider information governance function with ad hoc tasks and advice as the caseload requires

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience of using iCasework to manage information requests
  • Proven experience of logging and processing FOI, EIR and DSAR requests
  • Working knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
  • Experience of information governance or information rights work within a public sector setting
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing and redacting records
  • Good written communication skills and the ability to explain decisions clearly
  • Able to manage a busy caseload to statutory deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Able to start on 2 November 2026 and attend the office around two days a week where possible

The offer

This is a two-month interim position starting on 2 November 2026, based in Greater Manchester with a hybrid pattern. Rate is to be confirmed with candidates. Interviews will be held next week with the Head of Service.

If you have solid iCasework experience and are confident handling FOI, EIR and DSAR casework at pace, this role offers a clear remit and an immediate start. Apply below.
