The successful contractor will join a collaborative project team working on a large-scale construction programme in Germany.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager / HSE Officer to support the safe delivery of a major construction project in Frankfurt. The successful candidate will take ownership of environmental, health, and safety activities on site, ensuring compliance with project requirements, client standards, and German safety legislation. This is a hands-on, site-based position requiring strong contractor management and stakeholder coordination experience.
Key Responsibilities
- EHS contractor and personnel onboarding.
- Review and approval of RAMS, safety documentation, and insurance records.
- Conduct site inductions and safety briefings.
- Issue, coordinate, and manage Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
- Provide daily EHS oversight of construction activities, including LOTO operations and contractor interfaces.
- Carry out RAMS and SPA audits and provide detailed reporting.
- Produce project safety statistics, KPI reports, and compliance metrics.
- Attend and contribute to client, contractor, and project EHS meetings.
- Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and safety walks.
- Lead incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action processes.
Requirements (Qualifications / Skills & Experience)
- 5-10+ years’ experience as an HSE Manager, HSE Officer, EHS Manager, or equivalent within construction environments.
- Qualification compliant with §7 ASiG (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit / SiFa).
- Strong understanding of German health and safety legislation and site compliance requirements.
- Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, and multi-disciplinary construction teams.
- Proven background working with PTW systems, RAMS reviews, audits, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Fluent German and English language skills are essential.
Essential
- Construction site HSE management experience.
- Strong knowledge of LOTO procedures and contractor safety management.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience.
Desirable
- Experience on industrial, pharmaceutical, data centre, infrastructure, or advanced manufacturing projects.
- Previous consultancy or client-side project experience.
- Additional EHS certifications relevant to German construction projects.
Additional Information
- Initial 6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension to 12 months.
- Start date: ASAP.
- 45 hours per week.
- Fully site-based role in Frankfurt, Germany.
