About the role
Our client is looking for an HSE Manager to join a project in Mons, Belgium, taking responsibility for health, safety and environmental standards on site. The role is full-time and on-site, with a Monday to Friday pattern and no rotation, so you will be a consistent presence for the project team and its contractors.
You will oversee day-to-day HSE compliance, from site inductions and risk assessments to audits, incident reporting and the supporting documentation. Clear communication matters as much as technical knowledge here, because the role involves working with site management, subcontractors and the client to keep standards visible and consistently applied.
The contract starts as soon as possible and runs for an initial 2.5 months, with the possibility of a further year’s extension. Experience at manager level and a background in data centre environments are both advantageous.
Main responsibilities
- Lead HSE management on site, making sure the project complies with Belgian and EU health and safety legislation and client requirements
- Carry out and review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing safety communication to the project team and subcontractors
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, and follow up on corrective actions
- Investigate incidents and near misses, and report on findings and lessons learned
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation, records and reporting for the client and project management
- Act as the main HSE contact for site management, contractors and the client
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience in an HSE role on a construction or project site
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Fluent English
- EU passport or the right to freelance in Belgium
Desirable
- Previous experience at manager level
- Data centre experience
