Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager/Specialist with recognized German certification as a Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (FaSi/SiFa) to oversee and manage HSE aspects of a major pharmaceutical construction project in Germany. The role involves ensuring full compliance with national legislation, corporate standards, and best practices throughout the planning and execution phases of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the designated FaSi/SiFa in compliance with § 6 ASiG (Arbeitssicherheitsgesetz).
Provide expert HSE advice during all project phases, from pre-construction to commissioning.
Ensure full compliance with German occupational safety legislation (ArbSchG, BetrSichV, GefStoffV, etc.) and industry-specific requirements for pharmaceutical facilities (e.g., GMP, cleanroom environments).
Conduct risk assessments (Gefährdungsbeurteilungen), site inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
Collaborate closely with construction management, contractors, and client representatives to implement proactive HSE strategies.
Deliver site-specific HSE inductions and training to all personnel.
Monitor and report on HSE KPIs and incident trends, recommending corrective and preventive actions.
Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., Berufsgenossenschaft, Bauaufsicht) as needed.
Support implementation of site emergency plans, fire safety procedures, and environmental protection measures.
Ensure documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping comply with both local regulations and company standards.
Requirements:
Recognized qualification as Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (FaSi / SiFa) in Germany.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in HSE roles on large-scale construction projects, ideally within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or cleanroom sectors.
In-depth knowledge of relevant German HSE laws and regulations, particularly as they apply to construction and pharmaceutical industries.
Fluent in German (C1+) and proficient in English (B2+)-spoken and written.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience with HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001) is a plus.
Valid driving license and ability to travel to/from the construction site.
Preferred:
Engineering or technical background (e.g., safety engineering, industrial engineering).
Certification or experience in environmental management, fire protection, or hazardous materials handling.
