Housing Options Officer (Interim)

💰 £28–£29 per hour (umbrella)

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Options Officer to join a busy local authority on an interim basis. This role offers a flexible hybrid setup, with just 1 day per week required in the office, and the remainder working from home.
You’ll play a key role in delivering a frontline homelessness prevention and housing advice service, helping applicants secure sustainable housing solutions in line with legislation.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing a caseload under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996
- Completing homelessness assessments and personal housing plans (PHPs)
- Delivering prevention and relief duties in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act
- Making S184 decisions
- Providing tailored housing advice across a range of tenures
- Working with landlords and partner agencies to prevent homelessness
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Housing Options / Homelessness Officer role
- Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act
- Experience completing S184 decisions
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
- Experience working in a local authority setting
