🏡 Housing Options Officer – Hampshire (Hybrid Working)
We are currently recruiting for a Housing Options Officer role to join busy and supportive local authority teams across Hampshire. These roles offer a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, helping to prevent homelessness and support individuals and families in housing need.
🧩 The Role
As a Housing Options Officer, you will play a key role in delivering frontline housing advice and homelessness services. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing housing need and homelessness applications in line with the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
- Managing a caseload across prevention (s195) and relief (s189B) duties
- Creating and reviewing Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs)
- Making S184 decisions and issuing legally compliant decision letters
- Working with landlords and partner agencies to prevent homelessness
- Placing applicants into temporary accommodation where required
🔍 About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a Housing Options or Homelessness role within a local authority
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation and statutory duties
- The ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- A proactive and customer-focused approach
