About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Housing Officer to join their team in London on an initial 12-month contract.

The role will involve supporting clients with a range of housing needs, assessing eligibility and providing advice around housing options, tenancy rights and relevant legislation. Experience working with the Private Rented Sector and clients with complex housing needs will be particularly relevant.

Experience within a housing association or local authority environment is also highly valued, alongside a strong understanding of the challenges faced by asylum seekers and refugees accessing housing services.

Main responsibilities

• Assess clients’ housing needs, circumstances and eligibility for relevant services.
• Provide advice and support around housing options and available solutions.
• Work with clients accessing Private Rented Sector and Private Renting Services.
• Support individuals with complex housing needs and identify appropriate housing solutions.
• Apply relevant housing legislation and tenancy rights when assessing cases and providing advice.
• Support asylum seekers and refugees with their housing needs where required.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure appropriate actions are followed through.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, landlords, housing providers and external agencies.
• Manage a varied caseload while maintaining a high standard of service and support.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Housing Officer or in a closely related housing role.
• Experience assessing housing needs and eligibility.
• Strong knowledge of housing legislation and tenancy rights.
• Experience working with the Private Rented Sector or Private Renting Services.
• Experience supporting clients with complex housing needs.
• Experience working with asylum seekers and/or refugees is highly desirable.
• Previous experience within a housing association or local authority environment.
• Strong communication, organisation and case management skills.
