Job Title: Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer (Defence/Civil Drone Project)

About the Role:
We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our drone development team on a freelance basis. You’ll use SolidWorks to design, model, and optimize mechanical components and assemblies for defence and civil drones, ensuring durability, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of drone mechanical components using SolidWorks.
Collaborate with electronics and systems engineers to integrate mechanical designs with overall drone architecture.
Conduct tolerance analysis, stress analysis, and design validation to ensure reliability under operational conditions.
Ensure designs meet defense and civil aerospace requirements for materials, weight, and environmental resilience.
Support prototyping, testing, and manufacturing teams with design updates and documentation.
Maintain accurate design records and revisions within project timelines.
Requirements:
Proven experience with SolidWorks in mechanical design, ideally within aerospace, defense, or drone industries.
Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Experience in designing for environmental stresses, vibration, and shock typical of drone applications.
Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality designs remotely.
Strong communication skills for effective teamwork.
Availability for 40 hours per week over 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior involvement in drone or defence-related mechanical design projects.
Familiarity with CAD data management and PLM systems.
Knowledge of aerospace standards and regulatory requirements.
