Freelance Electronics/Hardware Design Engineer – UAV (Defence/Military)

We’re supporting a cutting-edge client in the defence sector who’s developing military UAV systems and seeking an electronics/hardware design engineer with a sharp, unconventional approach-someone who doesn’t just solve problems but challenges assumptions and pushes boundaries.
The Role
You’ll be driving the electronics and control systems design for advanced UAV hardware. This includes schematic design, PCB layout, and integration of control systems-requiring both innovative thinking and a solid foundation in defence-grade electronics development.
Requirements
Strong background in electronics and hardware design for aerospace, military, or defence systems
Experience in UAV or aerospace control systems is highly desirable
Deep understanding of embedded systems, power electronics, and sensor integration
Ability to work independently and challenge design norms creatively
Fluent in English; German is a plus
Based in the EU/UK region or able to work within European time zones
