Freelance Aerospace Systems Engineer (DO-178C / Multicore / DDCI)
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Freelance Aerospace Systems Engineer with strong expertise in avionics certification and embedded systems development to support a leading aerospace programme in Bavaria, Germany.
This is a hybrid contract role, requiring 3 days onsite per week in Bavaria and 2 days remote. The successful consultant will play a key role in certification, systems engineering, multicore compliance, and supplier coordination activities within a safety-critical aerospace environment.

Role Overview
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in DO-178C certification, multicore processing architectures, and DDCI (Data Distribution and Communications Infrastructure) environments. This is a hands-on systems engineering role requiring a strong understanding of the aerospace certification lifecycle, software assurance processes, and embedded real-time systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support aerospace system development and certification activities in accordance with DO-178C.
- Lead and coordinate multicore processor verification and compliance activities.
- Perform systems engineering activities across requirements management, architecture, integration, and validation.
- Manage technical interactions with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with programme requirements.
- Review certification artefacts, plans, compliance evidence, and verification documentation.
- Support certification authorities and customer audits where required.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between engineering, certification, and supplier teams.
Required Experience
- Proven background in Aerospace Systems Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of DO-178C certification processes, ideally within DAL A or DAL B environments.
- Experience addressing multicore certification challenges and developing compliance strategies.
- Strong embedded software and hardware integration experience.
- Experience coordinating and managing aerospace suppliers and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with certification planning, verification, and audit activities.
- Experience working within safety-critical aerospace programmes.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-330, DO-254, or related aerospace standards.
- Experience with avionics platforms, flight systems, or embedded real-time operating systems.
- Understanding of software assurance and regulatory compliance within aerospace environments.
