Interim Accountant (4 or 5 Days per Week)

Contract Type: Interim / Freelance (9-Month Assignment)
Start Date: November 2026
Working Pattern: 4 or 5 days per week
Hybrid Policy: 3 days on-site, 2 days remote (with a stronger on-site presence during the onboarding period)
Languages: Dutch required, English professional level
The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on finance professional to provide broad coverage across the finance function and support day-to-day financial operations.
The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys being involved in operational finance activities, supporting colleagues, improving processes, and acting as a trusted point of contact across the business. The environment is modern, automated, and continuously focused on efficiency improvements, making it well suited to an accountant who is both technically capable and technology-savvy.
Key Responsibilities
Work on AP approval workflows
Execute and oversee cash payment runs and bank releases
- Support month-end closing activities
- Prepare and review journal postings
- Review financial transactions and ensure accuracy
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Manage quarterly compliance reporting requirements
- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve operational finance matters
- Take ownership of tasks outside of the core role where required
Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Approximately 4-5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
- Strong understanding of General Ledger accounting
- Solid exposure to Accounts Payable, payment runs, and financial operations
- Good understanding of Accounts Receivable processes
- Previous coaching or mentoring experience is advantageous
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking initiative
- Technology-savvy
- Fluent Dutch is essential, Good English is needed
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with Exact Online
- Experience in modern, highly automated finance environments
- Exposure to finance transformation, workflow optimisation, or process improvement projects
- Strong operational finance background with broad accounting exposure
