Food Safety Officer
Our Local Authority client in Hertfordshire are seeking an experienced Food Competent Officer to support a food hygiene inspection programme on a contract basis. This role is ideal for officers looking for flexible inspection work, with a straightforward focus on conducting inspections and completing the required documentation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out food hygiene inspections across a range of food businesses, completing inspection forms, and leaving the relevant proforma on site following each visit. No follow-up correspondence, enforcement write-ups, or additional post-inspection administration is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct food hygiene inspections at allocated premises.
- Complete inspection forms accurately and efficiently.
- Leave the required inspection documentation with businesses following inspections.
- Manage a programme of inspections within agreed timescales.
- Ensure inspections are completed in line with current food hygiene legislation and the Food Law Code of Practice.
Required Experience
- Food Competent Officer status.
- Previous experience undertaking food hygiene inspections within a Local Authority.
- Strong knowledge of food safety legislation and inspection processes.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Experience inspecting Category C and D food premises.
- Experience inspecting unrated premises.
- Availability to start at short notice.
