Embedded Firmware Engineer (Audio systems)
Role Overview
We are seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to develop and integrate advanced firmware features for wireless earbud systems. This role focuses on audio performance, BLE connectivity, and power efficiency, working across multi-core SoCs and collaborating closely with mobile and QA teams to deliver a seamless end-to-end user experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Firmware Feature Development & Integration
- Develop and integrate firmware features across the audio pipeline, BLE connectivity, and power management systems.
- Ensure seamless interaction between firmware and mobile applications.
- Extend existing firmware architecture on multi-core SoCs (MCU + DSP).
- Implement and support features such as Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), touch input, and low-power modes.
2. Firmware Stability, Debugging & System Performance
- Diagnose and resolve firmware issues affecting audio quality, connectivity, and overall system reliability.
- Utilize advanced debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, SWD, audio analysis setups).
- Collaborate with SQA teams to validate firmware behavior and improve test coverage.
- Ensure robust performance across real-world usage scenarios.
3. Cross-Functional Integration & Build Execution
- Partner with Mobile Software Engineers to ensure reliable BLE communication and feature synchronization.
- Support EVT/DVT development cycles by stabilizing firmware and resolving blocking issues.
- Contribute to build readiness, providing clear visibility into risks and integration status.
Core Skills & Competencies
Technical Expertise (Embedded, Audio & Connectivity Systems)
- Strong proficiency in Embedded C/C++ on ARM-based multi-core SoCs (MCU + DSP).
- Hands-on experience with audio pipelines and BLE stacks.
- Experience with RF/Bluetooth systems.
- Familiarity with Airoha SoCs and SDK is a strong advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on consumer audio devices (e.g., wireless earbuds, headsets).
- Exposure to low-power embedded systems and battery optimization techniques.
- Prior involvement in EVT/DVT/PVT product development cycles.
