Financial Controller – Permanent Position | West Flanders, Belgium

Location: West Flanders, Belgium
Salary: €4,000 – €5,000 gross per month + electric company car and benefits
Language: Dutch required

We are working with a well-established landscaping organisation in Belgium that is looking to strengthen its finance function with a hands-on Financial Controller. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a solid accounting background who has started to develop their controlling experience and is looking for a role that combines both.

You will work closely with the accounting team, providing oversight and support while taking ownership of a range of controlling activities. A key part of the position will be supporting the team through the annual closing process, ensuring accounts are accurate, complete and delivered on time.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will:

• Oversee and support the accounting function, ensuring processes are accurate and efficient
• Work closely with accountants and provide guidance and support where needed
• Take a hands-on approach to controlling and financial reporting activities
• Support the annual financial closing process
• Review financial information and identify discrepancies or areas requiring further investigation
• Assist with reconciliations, reporting and financial analysis
• Help ensure compliance with internal financial procedures and requirements
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the finance function and wider business

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in accounting who has developed, or is looking to further develop, their controlling experience.

Your skills:

• Around 4-5 years of relevant professional experience
• A background in accounting, ideally with 1-2 years of experience in controlling
• A good understanding of financial processes and accounting principles
• Experience supporting or contributing to year-end closing activities
• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to remain operational
• Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to your work
• Excellent Dutch language skills, which are essential for the role

This position would suit someone who enjoys being close to the numbers and wants to remain involved in the day-to-day financial operations of a business. It is a hands-on role with a strong accounting focus, rather than a position designed around significant progression into senior management.
